Introducing Seamless learning: what does it mean (to you)?
‘Seamless learning’ richt zich op het doormiddel van technologie draadloos en naadloos verbinden van (leer)ervaringen in verschillende contexten en het hierdoor ondersteunen, verbeteren en versterken van leerprocessen. ‘Seamless’ leerscenario’s bieden mogelijkheden voor het aanleren van vakoverstijgende (21e eeuwse) vaardigheden en het ondersteunen van persoonlijke bewustwordings- en gedragsveranderingen.
In deze introductie maakt u zowel kennis met de achterliggende theorie en ideeën van “Seamless learning” als met een aantal praktijkvoorbeelden. Daarnaast verkennen we samen wat ‘seamless learning’ wel of (nog) niet voor u en uw organisatie betekent.

Seven times Seamless Learning in Higher Education - first conceptual and empirical insights
Designing, developing, implementing and evaluating seamless-learning lighthouse implementations across different HE domains, a largescale international four-year project (www.seamless-learning.eu) with eight subprojects was launched in 2017. By standardising the whole process, and employing a design-based research approach, we are able to cross-compare the subprojects and further develop the concept of seamless learning. Our team consists of instructional designers, computer scientists and discipline experts, enabling technology driven development and implementation based on pedagogical needs.
In the keynote we will briefly introduce the project, tools and procedures used within the DBR process, before discussing gaps identified in the current state of theorising seamless learning and our initial results in addressing them. Furthermore, we will address practical issues faced during subproject implementations in the form of lessons learned.

Innovation and Sustainability in Mobile Seamless Learning: Current Perspectives and Challenges
The emergent research field of mobile learning has gained much attention in the last 20 years. Since the late 90’s, a substantial number of research projects on mobile learning have been conducted in both formal and informal learning settings. The analysis of the research literature in this field indicates that much of the global research efforts have concentrated on the design and development of technological solutions to support learning about a particular subject matter. The outcomes of these research activities have contributed to a refined conceptualization of learning with mobile technologies in schools, museums and in field trips. Such a reconceptualization has been named under the term “mobile seamless learning”. Spite the positive views on the developments mentioned above, fewer are the efforts reporting on the problems and limitations while introducing and adopting mobile technologies in schools or, on the different types of barriers or constraints the use of mobile devices faces in different educational settings.
In this talk he will address and discuss those aspects related to innovation and sustainability in mobile seamless learning. He will first introduce this research field in terms of perspectives and challenges in order to understand why it matters to study the sustainability of innovations in schools. Thereafter, he will turn the focus to a couple of our on-going research projects in order to provide a critical analysis on the barriers and constraints experienced by both researchers and teachers while integrating mobile devices and applications in elementary and secondary schools. Towards the end, he will discuss factors, stakeholders and lines of action identified when attempting to introduce and sustain innovative educational practices addressing mobile seamless learning in Swedish schools.

Leren met en over je eigen omgeving
Waar woon ik? Waarom ziet het er zo uit? En wat vind ik ervan?
Door gebruik te maken van de eigen omgeving kun je onderwijs betekenisvol maken. Er is altijd iets interessants in de eigen omgeving om een les aan te koppelen, zoals een middeleeuwse muur, klederdracht, een bijzonder landschap, een dagboek van een onderduiker of een lint boerderijen.
Door te starten vanuit een spannende onderzoeksvraag worden leerlingen aan het denken gezet, stellen ze vragen en bedenken ze oplossingen over gebruik, vorm en functie. Tevens kunnen ze nadenken over wat zij er eigenlijk zelf van vinden. Ze leren in de praktijk, door te doen en te zien en dit is dikwijls vakoverstijgend.
Hoe gebruik je vervolgens digitale middelen om deze activiteiten in zowel de klas als op locatie te verlevendigen en daarmee 21e eeuwse vaardigheden te versterken?
Tijdens deze inspiratiesessie zal Dorien Wijstma de deelnemers bewust maken van de grenzeloze mogelijkheden op het gebied van seamless learning. In de aansluitende workshops kan deze inspirerende informatie als waardevolle input dienen.
Paralelle workshop sessies
Om de deelnemers met potentiele leerrijke buitenschoolse contexten kennis te laten maken zijn drie partijen uitgenodigd om over “hun” contexten te vertellen en om samen met de workshopdeelnemers "seamless scenarios" te bedenken. De partijen zijn de dierentuin GaiaZoo, en twee verschillende lokale musea: Museum voor Familie Geschiedenis, het Ursulineconvent uit Eijsden en museum het Land van Valkenburg uit Valkenburg. Deze drie zijn bewust gekozen; ze zijn ieder op hun een eigen manier uniek en ze maken het mogelijk is om meerdere concrete leerrijke trajecten uit te denken (en verder in te vullen) voor en met [lokale] scholen /onderwijsverstrekkers. Daarnaast zijn er met deze partners contacten gelegd vanuit het Welten-Instituut.
