Unit 2 - Modelling Soil-water Systems

This unit covers Soil-water systems. We will cover the basic components of these systems, and subsequently focus on the modelling of these systems. You will learn how to classify and evaluate models, and how such models can support decision-making surrounding climate adaptation.

Upon completing this unit, you will:
1. Be able to understand, describe, and explain Soil-water models and the ways in which they can support decision-making

2. Be able to explain the following:

  • Model-based approaches in environmental sciences;
  • The available and relevant methods and techniques for environmental research and monitoring in the soil-water system;
  • the models used in the various environmental specializations of the soil-water system to investigate environmental problems.

3. Have mastered the following skills:

  • You can classify and evaluate a model;
  • You can contribute to mapping the environmental scientific problem surrounding the nutrient load on coastal waters, and define this problem in more detail
